Vaen and Vox return to the village of the Ysanna with the critically wounded Ruubi while Rune, Kerr, Kark and Feray continue towards the crystal caves. Arriving, they find a ship, The Defiance, and criminals: Jerec Bolter & Turnaka accompanied by a large group of stick Droids. Jerec initially tries to fast talk that he has mining rights from the natives. When that doesn’t work, he comes clean and admits that the plan was to sell the white crystals to the Jedi but, “Now that you’ve seen our faces, I’m afraid we’re going to have to ask you to stay here until we can sell them at the Knossa spaceport.” Jerec argues with Turnaka that they don’t have to kill them so Turnaka starts the fight! Dealing with the threat outside, the Jedi move inside the cave where the Droids are slicing through the rock with laser cutters and planting additional blast charges. The two Droid team supervisors get confused and set too many charges, informing each other that the other team should evacuate. As the Jedi rush to defeat the stick Droids and defuse the charges, the Living Force – which permeates all things – causes the crystals to manifest themselves as a humanoid Elemental, the mountain trying to defend itself. With the bombs and Droids dispatched, the Elemental turns on Rune who trusts in The Force and lowers all his defenses. Sensing the peaceful nature of the Jedi Knight, connected to The Force – the Elemental no longer needed, the crystals separate and return to the cave walls.
Thinking the situation resolved, as the Jedi exit the cave they are fired upon! Another ship has landed, The Black Corsair – and the group of smugglers who Turnaka was really working for: Rak Fangg, Odatta, Guwarm & Uggo. His men defeated, Rak Fangg agrees to be taken in rather than killed. The Jedi regroup and head back to Knossa where construction begins on the Zero Room on board the Sunjammer.
